What is a Remy Hair Wig?
Remy human hair is collected through a method in which hair strands are aligned in the natural direction as they grew, keeping the hair cuticles (think of it as scales) going in the same direction. Non-remy has hair cuticles going in both directions, increasing the instance of tangling and knotting. For this reason, non-remy hair has a shorter life span and can be a headache to care for.
Remy hair is more expensive and looks more natural due to the tedious process that the strands go through to collect and protect the hair cuticles. This process provides a smoother appearance, a softer feel, and a longer life for your wig or topper.
Advantages of a Remy Human Hair Wig
Human hair offers the most realistic look, feel, and natural shine. Wigs can be cut, style can be changed, and in some instances, hair color can be enhanced or modified. A Remy wig can last for years depending on the quality of the hair, the cap construction, and the care you provide.
Disadvantages of a Remy Hair Wig

Beware of Scams
If you’ve been looking online or at your local beauty supply store I’m sure you’ve seen wigs advertised as Remy hair costing a few hundred dollars or less. Sound too good to be true, right? That’s because it is too good to be true. Many times the hair is not Remy, or is a mix of Remy with other hair types – sometimes human hair, sometimes not. The hair used in these wigs is low quality, highly processed, and will result in a piece that will age out quickly.
